Ingram died today.

Late last week I noticed that he had chewed a bit on his tail. He's done this before, but never anything much. Then a couple of days later I looked and he nearly chewed it down to the bone. So I took him to the vet. She said she wasn't sure what was causing that, as he didn't have any mites or anything, but she gave him some revolution anyway and some antibiotics to keep it from getting infected. He had surgery this morning to take off most of his tail where it had been mostly chewed off. He made it through the surgery just fine, and she took him off of oxygen. But when she was holding him in a towel, trying to warm him up, his heart rate fell and he stopped breathing. The vet said she tried CPR but that they couldn't save him.

I know he was old, about 3 1/2 years old, which is really old for one of them. But still, it's hard to lose one of the little guys. They did make a mold of his paws, and are going to mail it to me, which is nice. And I do at least have several pictures of him. At least he wasn't in pain at the end, which he would have been in a lot of if he hadn't had the surgery.

So here's to you, you cowardly little furball. I hope you, Doofus, and Alistair can all have fun together now.

Had an odd dream last night. An old man was going around throwing dynamite at buildings, so I decided to GTFO of there by jumping onto the back of a car that was speeding away, as I was going another car came up behind and motioned for me to jump to their vehicle, so I did and climbed in through the window. It was Steven and Liv Tyler inside the car. We drove around for a while and then I stole Liv's wallet and made my way back to a hotel room. Her wallet had the other half of a set of plans for a nuclear bomb, I had the first half in my own wallet.

...no I didn't take any drugs before bed.

Also, I HAS A KITTY. O_O He's grey and white and...special. Tends to roll off of things that he lays on, and in general is a doofus. Now I just need a name for him, the people who were sheltering him gave him the name "Biggie" which is funny since he's pretty tiny, but yeah, that's a stupid name so I need a better one.

The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.

The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Okay, I just want to preface this by saying that yes, I’m going to talk about the election, and as usual when I talk about politics I tend to descend into a frothing rage, so… uh… yeah, just letting anyone who might happen by know up front.

So we finally have our two candidates, McCain and Obama. Well, at least the only two with any chance in hell of winning sadly, we’d be a lot better off if our government was something like Canada’s with three and a half political parties. (Sorry NDP). Personally I was holding out for a Kucinich/Paul ticket, but alas, that appears unlikely to happen now. But you have to admit, having those two in power would put quite a bit of fear into anyone… uh, pretty much anywhere.

But of the two of them I suppose I’ll be supporting Obama.

Edwards was my top pick of the candidates who actually had a shot of getting on there, and I’d still like to see him or perhaps the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Jim Webb as Obama’s vice presidential candidate. Edwards seems pretty focused on uplifting the poor in the country, and Webb is an excellent counter to McCain’s military experience.

I hardly agree with Obama on a lot of things, capitol punishment, abortion, gay marriage, although to be fair Paul and Kucinich (and yes I can spell his name without looking it up) are the only two that were running that opposed capitol punishment, so it’s not like it was very likely to begin with.

Still, he’s better than the ball-less wonder that is post-2000 John McCain. Remember when McCain used to have guts? Then he lost to Bush and figured that if he ever wanted to be President it was time to start veering right faster than Lex Luthor seeing some unguarded pies alongside the street. He talks about how “we don’t torture” but when the time came to actually cast a vote on the issue he tucked his tail between his legs and voted to allow the CIA to torture people, because that’s what his bosses in the party wanted.

McCain, like pretty much everyone on the Right, screams constantly about “SUPPORT OUR TROOPS”, and yet now opposes Webb’s bill which would extend benefits to returning soldiers. Not that the current administration has ever seen the soldiers on the ground as anything but cannon fodder, just a quick look at the medical care they receive will show this. And if anything, McCain is Bush’s little lapdog.

McCain talks about how he’s a ‘maverick’ and thinks for himself, but anytime he actually has to cast a vote he bends over and happily laps up whatever his bosses tell him to.

In the end it most likely will come down to the War in Iraq and the Economy as the major issues. McCain would happily keep us in Iraq forever, as it allows the president in power to continue the massive power grabs that Bush has started, grabs that would make Vladimir Putin turn green in envy at such boldness.

Obama wants to remove the troops at a reasonable rate, something we desperately need. You see, someday there might be a need for an actual war, and the way our military is now there’s not much chance we could fight on a third front. It’s time to pull back, regroup, strengthen our defenses. It’s just basic strategy people. We should be looking to put Russia in check before Putin gathers together anymore power, he’s already parading tanks and missiles through Red Square, that’s what we call a sign in the business people.

Obama supports talking with our enemies, which McCain of course thinks is crazy, yes, talking with someone instead of starting shooting and bombing always works out so well. You know, despite the fact that presidents Kennedy and Regan, the paragons of the Left and Right in this country both talked heavily with enemies of the US during their presidencies. Bush even talked with Kim Jong-il in negotiations about North Korea’s nuclear program. Clinton talked extensively with the Israeli and Palestinians, not that it had much effect mind you, but then nothing really seems like it will. So yes, McCain seems to be nearly alone in his “kill, kill, kill all who oppose us!” mentality. Even the current administration isn’t as off kilter.

So there you have it pretty much, while I don’t whole heartily agree with Obama on several issues, he’s greatly preferable to McCain.

And to add a bit lighter mood to this, I went with my zombie rape icon.

Spoilers for Hellsing Ultimate and the Manga

So I finally got to the part in Ultimate where Alucard fights Rip Van Winkle, a much wanked about subject in the fandom. And I have to say, I'm just not seeing it. The fight is often referred to as a "rape" scene. Well if getting stabbed through the heart with a wooden object counts as rape, then I guess pretty much every tv show, movie, and novel with vampires should be looked at differently.

Yes, she's clearly terrified and cries throughout the ordeal. But she's also a Nazi and a vampire who has gleefully slaughtered hundreds, most likely thousands of innocent people. How many of those people do you think cried and were horrified as she murdered them?

I'm sorry, but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for her. What about Luke Valentine? He comes pretty damn close to crying as Alucard kills him, where's the wank over his "rape" scene.

I'm just not quite sure why the fandom seems to show sympathy for one Nazi mass murderer but not another.

Okay, I don’t know if I have any artists on my friends list or not, so I’m making this public incase anyone happens to wander by. I need a commission for a piece of art. Well, porn/art really.

So what I was it a picture of Optimus Prime and Mario raping a pizza delivery man. Doesn’t matter which company, oh, let’s say Pizza Hut, they’re a bunch of cheap bastards. It’s very important that Optimus Prime is taking the front and Mario the back, nothing else will do.

In the background I need a large blue computer screen that uses bright yellow font. I want it to say:

User: Why is the pizza delivery man being raped?
Sbaitso: Because he wanted it.

So if anyone could do this for me, just comment and let me know how much you’d charge. Thanks.

I swear if I see one more idiot going on about how we're all going to die from the Large Hadron Collider I'm going to have to smack a bitch. "Oh noes! It might create black holes that would suck up the Earth!" It is possible that it might create some microscopic black holes, but no, they won't kill us. Black holes that tiny will evaporate within a few thousandths of a second.

Much like windmills, BLACK HOLES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!

Virtual particles carry away energy, and thus mass from a black hole, thus shrinking it. It's amazing how many people will talk about E=mc^2 without having any idea what the equation means, or even what all the letters stand for.

Nice to know racial segregation is alive and well in the world, even if it has moved quite a bit further North than one would expect.

Apparently they want to make a "black focused" school, since the black students have, "historically struggled in TDSB schools".

Let me break it down for you, one more time. Race isn't real, it's all culturally constructed. Black, white, whatever, any differences are based on society and culture, there's nothing of note physically different about human beings. It seems to me that your schools as a whole are failing, and you just don't want to take the blame for that. Try getting some better teachers and programs working, but don't start seperating the children based on race.

/rant

So I was randomly thinking of movie ghost alignment last night. Yes, I lie in bed thinking of odd things. So far I've come up with:

Samara of The Ring - Lawful Evil
Kayako of The Grudge - Chaotic Evil
Natre of Shutter - Chaotic Neutral

Anyone else have any thoughts they'd like to throw in on that?

Also, I've been playing Metroid Prime 3 lately, just got the Phazon Enhancement Device, or the PED. Personally I'm hoping for an advanced version, maybe a Phazon Enhancement Device Omega. Mainly so Samus can go into full on PEDO mode.

Ironiclly also I actually liked McCain back in 2000, and I still say he would have made a hell of a better president than Bush, not that that would be hard mind you, but still.

Well, since Kucinich has no chance in hell, I guess that means Edwards, although since I was already half-heartedly supporting him I guess that makes sense.

I suppose I could go into this on the issues that various canidates agreed or didn't for me, but that would so just lead to a flame war. Well, you know, if people actually read my journal, which they don't.
Finally got around to watching the Transformer’s animated series first episode. It was… surprisingly not that bad really. The animation style is weird and I don’t really care for it, and the little kid is annoying as hell, but the story was interesting enough, and the transformers themselves seemed well enough done.

I like what they did with Starscream, sure I knew he was going to lose, but they managed to do it without making him look like a weak little bitch or something like they would have in the original series. He managed to take on the entire Autobot team and thoroughly beat on them for almost the entire battle. I kind of like the idea of having the Decepticons being massively more powerful than the Autobots, but only showing up rarely and in smaller numbers.

Prowl as a ninja was odd, but came off all right. Mainly due to the fact that it’s clear he can be defeated, all too often shows fall into the trap of making their ‘ninja’ character simply invincible. Doing anything else would make them less cool, they can escape any trap and defeat any enemy with their ‘leet skillz’.

Blackarachnia’s inclusion was odd, but I suppose they wanted an evil female to fight Arcee whenever she shows up. After all, one of the first rules of movies and tv shows is that there can be no cross gender fighting unless it’s just a female beating up a male in a supposedly humorous manner.

Spirit Gate

An open letter of sorts to Mrs. Kate Elliot. Spoilers for the Spirit Gate book follow.

So I’ve been reading Spirit Gate, the first of the Crossroads series. (Lame series name by the way, but I’ll let that slide) Seriously, Kate, your female characters annoy the hell out of me a lot of the time. They weren’t bad for the most part in the Crown of Stars series, Liath got on my nerves, but I really liked Hanna and Rosvita, but seriously… We really don’t need to know the size and shape of every single woman’s breasts, but Kate’s quite determined to tell us. All of them are of course “shapely” or some variant of that.

Perhaps you could try writing some female character’s who aren’t either ZOMG raped or more commonly “almost raped”. Seriously, it’s a cliché for you. Of the women that are major character’s in your stories I can certainly count fewer that haven’t been at least threatened or scared of being raped as opposed to those that have. Let’s see, so far in Spirit Gate what major female characters do we have?

Marit: Was threatened with rape, is instead murdered by another girl the evil people had captured who then turns Marit’s knife on herself.

Cornflower: Slave, rented out by owner. The only person with blonde hair and blue eyes is of course raped by the big evil dark skinned people.

Bai: Slave at temple, rented out by temple, later agrees to exchange services for a ride to the next city after her brother buys her freedom. Is an assassin as well. *insert eye rolling here*

Mai: Amazingly not, although she was afraid she was going to be when she was forced into marriage. Was pissed at her uncle for renting out Cornflower, but then got over it. After all, you have to stick with your family, even if they are horrible scum.

Pryia: Was kidnapped away from her homeland and forced into slavery.

We don’t actually see any of these acts taking place of course, but still, it’s just a horrible cliché for Kate’s work. It’s not a focus of the story or anything of course, but still, it would be nice to have some female characters without that happening to them.

That and the whores, oh the whores. And I’m not talking about people who sleep around, I’m talking about people who sleep with lots of others in exchange for goods or services if not outright money.

This isn’t to say that there aren’t male whores of course, Joss is quite the slut. He just doesn’t do it for money, and he’s very wangsty about it anyway, mainly that none of them could ever take the place of Marit. Still, there are other facets to his character than just being a whore, a lot of the women there really aren’t any other parts of their character that we get to see, certainly nothing for Bai, and about the only scenes Cornflower is in are ones where she’s being mistreated in some way or other.

Don’t even get me started on her homosexual characters. Each series has a token gay man in it. Baldwin, every bad weepy slash fic cliché rolled up together, from the Crown of Stars books. He was constantly getting “passed around” the nobility, male and female alike and used. He’s also quite simple minded, but not in the innocent sense, no, in the idiot sense.

Spirit Gate has Peddo as it’s token gay man. Yup… Peddo. He’s a reeve, a friend of Joss, and is obsessed with the local firefighters. Like Baldwin, Peddo is a bit of an idiot, although unlike Baldwin he’s also a pervert always trying to pick up any cute guys he sees.

I’m most likely making the books sound worse than they are, I do like some of the characters, Anji and Joss. If Mai hadn’t been so quick to forgive her uncle Shai I might have liked her, but now I’ll never be able to think of her as anything but an annoying idiot. Elliot seems obsessed with making sure all of her women are complete and total victims who for the most part never even try to fight against the horrible things that happen to them.
